The colors, great dilemma in decoration! Do not mix more than so many colors, do not use colors that are too dark, not too white, not too bright, not these together. Enough to make you dizzy and want to swing your pants. But don’t panic, you’re in luck: Scandinavian style colors are the easiest to use, and we’ll explain how.
Basic Colors
The Nordic style is characterized by very clear and preferably neutral colors: white, beige, gray, etc. They must dominate in the room, for example on the walls, on the floor or on furniture.
The light colors help to enlarge the room and bring in light. This is an obligation in countries where it is often dark, especially in winter.
For more warmth and cozy, the wood must be present, in the form of parquet and on furniture (coffee table, armchairs, etc.). Of course, it should not be too dark.
Too Much White Kills White
Of course, a total white look in a room gives the impression of being in a hospital room. Not very pleasant when you are supposed to relax in your living room! Incorporating unpainted white wood (but still clear) is a way to break it up a bit. Using off-white or beige is another. But well, you can integrate color to brighten it up a bit!
On your decorative objects, for example, cushions, a vase, a carpet, a plaid, ottomans … could very well display pastel colors. The softer the carpet, the more it will reinforce the cozy and comfortable effect for long winter evenings. Also, think of the colorful candles!
Consider painting a section of the wall a little sharper color, to wake up the room. You can stay in a neutral color (like gray) or just go on a completely different color, pastel for example. Why not dare yellow or blue, for a good shot of vitamins?
Patterns For Modernity
The Nordic style fits perfectly with modern decor codes. Incorporate graphic patterns, for example on the sofa cushions, on the carpet, the drawers of a chest of drawers to add a little color and prevent your decor from being too smooth. Pink, blue, yellow, always in pastel to stay soft, will brighten up the room to avoid a too strict and smooth effect with only white.
A Colorful Sofa
We don’t always think about it (or we dare not) but choosing a colored sofa can be a very good idea to add pep to your Scandinavian living room since it is one of the central pieces of decoration. Dare a bright color rather than pastel, if the rest of the room is suitable.
